About Us

Hi! I'm Anna Bell. Art has always been where I go for peace, inspiration, and expression  I started out simply drawing, then attempted some paintings and ceramics and most recently discovered my love for bringing other people's throwaways a new life.

The Origin Story of Moxy Studios:

I've been making art my whole life — it was never a phase, but always on the side.  It was always just the thing I do to unwind.  Painting and art is now how I reflect my opinions and emotions of the world around me: the people in it, the environment, the beauty hiding in plain sight everywhere.

The thrift store frame series came much more recently.  I began to thrift for clothes and home goods, like so many others quite a few years ago.  Then one day, I saw a wooden tray that had such a unique shape and I thought 'that's a canvas waiting to be beautiful again'. So I brought it home and began to play with reviving it.

From thrift store to art gallery.

Every piece in the upcycled series starts with a frame or object that someone else gave up on. I clean it, repair it, and paint something original directly onto — or into — it. The frame isn't decoration. It's part of the story.

The rest of the work — the original paintings and prints — comes from the same place: a conviction that bold, weird, joyful art belongs on real people's walls, not just in white-cube galleries that feel like you need a password to get in.

"I want my work to feel like it was always supposed to be in your home — like you didn't buy it so much as finally find it."

Moxy Studios is a unique virtual art gallery featuring artists who are committed to using their work for good.  Each sale generates a donation to charities such as Cricket’s Hope Art Program, American Heart Association and No Kid Hungry.
